Caricature Artist looking for a student to create a short promotional video (artist will be on campus Jan. 19 & 20, which may be the best opportunity to shoot). The Jacksonville Public Library is a large library system, consisting of a 300,000 sq. ft. Main Library and twenty regional, community and neighborhood branch libraries. We also serve the needs of the community with Talking Books Library for Disabled Customers and an active adult literacy program.

The system directly serves residents and employees of Duval County both within the Jacksonville city limits and the Beaches and Baldwin communities. Residents of neighboring Baker, Clay, Nassau and St. Johns Counties are also able to partake of the services provided by JPL.

Neighborhood Branch Assistant
Learn all about the library by volunteering as a Neighborhood Branch Assistant. Sort and shelve books and other library materials. Organize shelves, tables and displays. Ensure proper placement of books. Clean and repair books as necessary. Answer general questions and assist with basic functions of the computer. Provide assistance in locating website and using software. Prepare items for craft projects and assemble accessories and props for story times. Register children for programs. Provide assistance during programs. Read with and to children. Assist with homework. Provide academic support at the library to elementary aged children. Available at the small neighborhood branches.

Shelving


Use your organizational skills at the library. The library relies on its volunteers to assist with sorting and shelving books and other library material. Available at all locations.


Reading/Homework Coach
Read with children. Assist with homework. Provide academic support at the library to elementary aged children. Available at various locations.

Volunteer Instructors
ESL Instruction - Share your knowledge of the English language by teaching English to students who know little or no English. Requires a commitment of at least 15 weeks. Two training sessions are held throughout the year. Once volunteer instructors are trained, they are paired up with an instructor who has experience teaching the program. Materials are provided to the volunteer at no cost. Lessons are then put together by the instructors prior to class. Classes meet twice a week for an hour and a half each meeting. A few morning classes are scheduled, but the majority of our classes are in the afternoon and early evening. Available at various locations.

Special Education Instruction – Open the world of reading to learning disabled adults by teaching them to read and provide one-to-one assistance as needed. Training sessions are held throughout the year. Requires a commitment of at least 5 months. Classes are held January – May and August – December. Available at Main.

Computer Instruction – Share your love of the computer by teaching students how to use computer software, find internet sites, and how to use the JPL online catalog in a classroom setting. Available at various locations.

Office Assistant

Gain valuable on the job training and experience by helping the library with general office duties such as, answering and making calls, filing, making copies, and data input. Available at University Park/ Support Services department.


Abstract and Indexing Assistant
The Special Collections department of the Main Library is looking for volunteers to assist with reviewing specific material groups (historical newspapers, journals, etc.) and to create indexes and abstracts of important information. Available at Main.

Materials Processing Assistant
Get a look at the library from behind the scenes. Label and de-label materials. Stamp books. Process new and withdrawn materials. Assist with daily book drops. Assist in packing and unpacking of delivery and reserves. Copy, organize, and file materials depending on assignment. Available at various locations.

Program Events Assistant
Get a free backstage pass to a library program. Assist Library personnel with preparing for library programs that are held at the library and other locations. Also, assist during program by passing out brochures/information/handouts, assisting people attending the program with questions, and taking photos of the event. Available at various locations.

Children’s Area Assistant
Come help us prepare items for craft projects, assemble accessories and props for story times, assist with displays and maintaining appearance of shelves. Volunteers also register children for programs and provide specific service to the librarians during programs. Available at various locations.

Teen’s Area Assistant
Feel like a teen again. The Teen area of the Main Library is looking for volunteers to assist in preparation for programs including craft project preparation, set-up, and break down, provide specific service to professional staff during programs, assist with displays, and provide assistance in maintenance and appearance of shelves.

Customer Service Assistant
Brush up on your customer service skills. The library needs volunteers to assist customers at the self check machines, logging on computers, etc. Available at various locations.





Computer Coaching

Every great library needs a computer whiz. Answer general questions and assist with basic functions of the computer. Provide assistance in locating websites and using software. May provide assistance using the JPL catalog. Available at various locations.



Gift Processing Assistant
Come find out what happens to those books that are donated to the library. Assist with sorting through books that have been donated to the branch. Process books for collection to be shelved and box up books for the book sale. Available at various locations.

Reserves Notification Assistant
Assist with processing items that have been reserved by customers and notify customers their reserve items have arrived. Available at various locations.

Greeter
If you love meeting and talking with people then the Main Library is looking for you. Greet customers at the door. Provide assistance and direction to customers. Available at various locations.

Reference Desk Work
Attention Librarians, volunteers are needed to answer reference inquiries, search on-line databases and print resources as required to assist customers with research. Volunteers also index and organize materials for easy use by the public. MLS degree is required. Available at various locations.

Adopt-A-Shelf
Maintain order and appearance of assigned section of shelving. Identify books belonging to other branches and return them to Circulation for reporting. Read spine labels and re-shelve books that are not in proper order. Shift books as necessary to assure easy access. Remove bookmarks, paper, and litter from books and shelves.

Our ideal candidate needn’t be proficient a Flash Developer in all areas of our process but they will possess a solid understanding of graphic design principles (how code affects design and vice versa). Gamming development experience is a huge plus.

Hello,
What we are looking for is a information video for a presentation that is about three minutes long. We have the voice over already completed but the video that we now have is lacking that professional, simplistic and clean look that we need. The video is highlighting the software and certification program offered by the company. Unfortunately we do have a short deadline to get it done since it is for an upcoming presentation. We can provide the voice over, screen shots (if needed) and licensed photos (all material must be complete licensed for use even if we must provide the photos and exc.). If you have anyone that would like to make a little extra money in the next week or so please let me know.

Design Department Intern Web/Multimedia/Graphic Design

CFM, a full service ad agency, is currently interviewing Design Interns. Interns will be working closely with the Web Designer and the Art Director. Job duties include, but are not limited to, working in print, press publication, Web and multimedia design. Students will learn first hand about the work environment of professional designers at an Advertising agency. Web and/or multimedia experience is preferred. We provide clients with identity systems, direct mail pieces, Web sites, outdoor advertising, etc. Interns have more design freedom than in many agencies and many pieces may be used, published and printed to help strengthen their portfolios. Interns need to have a broad skill set, the ability to multitask jobs and meet strict deadlines. Interns are treated as part of the staff, and the jobs they are given are expected to be delivered on time (the proofs and final copies) and in a professional manner.

Preferable qualifications include:
Strong in print and Web platforms
Familiar with navigating CS3 Suite
Minimum 15 hours per week.

Toys for Tots will be doing our toy distributions December 6th - 10th on the South side of Jacksonville, Florida and we are looking for about 15 honest students or faculty members to assist us. We are in need of help with a couple positions and you can chose which you like best. They are as follows:

Application in taker (A.I.): You would be checking the bills and income at the site to make sure everything they entered online is ok (we would need you to bring your laptop).

Runner: After the A.I. has verified their info, you would be then given the names and ages of the kids and you would fill the order with age appropriate toys.

Looking for an experienced videographer based out of the greater Jacksonville area for on-going freelance video projects.

The majority of the shoots will be on location so you must have access to reliable transportation. Must also be available to start ASAP!

Prior experience should include camera operation, lighting, sound, and post production video editing. Editing will consist of selecting and assembling video, audio, graphics, and titles using a video editing program.
