Title: Student Help - Library




Position Summary:

Responsible for servicing patrons at The Art Institute of Jacksonville library as well as assisting in inventory and organizing of library publications and subscriptions, and assistance in overseeing library operations.



Key Job Elements:

1. Staff circulation desk as needed

2. Charge, discharge, and renew library materials circulating from the library.

3. Ensure security of library materials during shift.

4. Assist patrons on use of OPAC.

5. Provide directional information.

6. Assist patrons on use of copier.

7. Ensure printer/copier is stocked with paper and ink.

8. Shelve all returned materials.

9. Perform weekly shelf reading duties.

10. Process new materials by adding labels, barcodes, and other necessary items.

11. Process missing or overdue material.

12. Assist in library inventory.

13. Assist Librarian in all necessary tasks as given.

Reports to: Librarian

Interacts with: Students, staff and faculty.

As a member of the Residential Life and Housing Department, the Resident Assistant (RA) is responsible for helping to create an enjoyable living and learning environment in the residence facility. The RA is expected to conduct him/herself in a manner consistent with the responsibilities outlined below and with AiJX policies. The Resident Assistant is a source of encouragement, support, constructive criticism and information in helping the residents to become successful both academically and personally.

Overall effectiveness will be demonstrated through the RA’s ability to establish effective relations with all residents and fellow staff members.

The following explains the qualifications and duties of the Resident Assistant. Other, more specific tasks may be assigned by the Residential Life and Housing Office, the Director, Assistant Director or Residential Life Coordinator.

Qualifications:
1) Enrolled at the Art Institute of Jacksonville
2) Good academic, disciplinary and financial standing during the time of appointment.
3) Minimum CGPA of 2.5 to apply and must maintain a 2.5 CGPA during the time of appointment.
4) Must be a full-time studen each quarter with 12 or more credits.
5) Have the ability to work with individuals and groups
6) Have the ability to carry out the role of an RA in a positive and developmental manner
7) Demonstrate open-mindedness, enthusiasm and optimism

Training in leadership, interpersonal skills, and peer counseling.
Free housing equal to one space in a unit for the duration of appointment.
Ten paid office hours ($8 per hour) each week (scheduled to work at AiJX or within RA Apartment)
