Federal Work Study/Literacy Program


The current open position is at the Public Library for their Summer Reading Program

Job Description:

• Form meaningful relationships with young children and share love of reading by reading stories together, talking about books, writing, and exploring the world of books together.

• Help children gain confidence, increase self-esteem, and acquire key reading skills.

• Pursue a variety of activities that will help young students develop basic reading and comprehension skills.

• Maintain timesheets and have signed by supervisor and returned to Financial Aid Office.

Qualified Individuals:

• Desire to attain personal growth and fulfillment by contributing to the community.

• Enjoy reading and passing it on.

• Have a good rapport with children

• Can be a positive role model

• Have good work ethic

• Have passed a personal background check

• Maintain a 2.5 GPA

• Taking full load of classes

• Be work study eligible (see Student Financial Services)

• Recommendation letter from Program Director or instructor

• Have attended The Art Institute for at least one quarter

• Must pass a drug screening and background check
