Description

TrueNet is seeking a part-time Graphic Design Intern to work on design projects for our website, print and electronic collateral, email campaigns, presentations, intranet, events, advertising, signage and marketing communication materials. There will also be administrative work required. In addition, the intern is needed to assist the Marketing Director with the design, cataloguing, and acquisition for the TrueNet Museum of Communications and Energy.

This is an unpaid internship, onsite in our Jacksonville office, and an excellent opportunity for a Graphic Designer who wants to gain experience working in the business world in a dynamic technical company.

Job Summary

Applicants should be perusing or already have Bachelor’s degree or related 2-year degree in Fine Arts / Graphic Design or closely related-field.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

• Coursework or experience in design, art, public relations, communications or related area preferred.

• Experience in designing posters, flyers, newsletters for external and internal needs / or strong portfolio is recommended.

• Knowledge of and sensitivity toward typography and its appropriate use.

• Experience with PC and Macintosh computers and experience with graphic design software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Dream Weaver, and others.

• Experience with Microsoft Word, EXCEL, Power Point, etc. Creating templates in MS Word preferred. Knowledge of PowerPoint preferred.

• Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet deadlines for simultaneous projects.

• Strong judgment, decision-making and organizational skills a must.

• Ability to work under short deadlines and produce work quickly.

• Must be able to work well in a diverse team. Excellent customer service required

Essential Functions

The selected graphic design intern(s) assist with the design and execution of a range of printed materials.

• Execute the design of print publications, including ads, coupons, fliers, newsletters, etc.

• Assist with administrative tasks, mailings, etc.

• Develop and implement plans for the proper storage, conservation, and exhibition of the Museum’s collection

• Complete special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Must have working knowledge of Photoshop CS2, InDesign CS2, and Illustrator CS2.

• Must be able to operate within Microsoft Office systems.

• Must be proficient with the Macintosh platform.

• Must be self-motivated and have sharp attention to detail, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, a flexible and creative personality, and the ability to manage multiple projects.

• Open to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in graphic design or related field from an accredited college or university.
