Holmes Stamp and Sign Internship Candidate Job Description

Talented, web-savvy content writer. Ability to study and learn our product lines (custom rubber stamps, name tags, engraved signs, trophies and plaques, etc.), produce and upload keyword rich, compelling content to internet web sites. Our websites need viewers! You'll work in a small team pushing our Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts to the maximum.

Specific Skills:
• Know how to blog, understand a blog, identify and satisfy an implied need expressed in a blog with a matching Holmes product by commenting on that blog in such a way as to lead the blog reader to our product while fitting in with the blog readership instead of standing out like a snake oil sales spammer.

• Impeccable grammar. You always double-check your spell checker before hitting the "submit" button.

• Be able to write in a clear, concise, engaging and readable manner.

• The ability to write effectively for a specific audience, not babbling endlessly with words that only you and your much-missed professor understand, or trying to be funny unless you actually are.

The ideal intern candidate would be a student pursuing a degree or certification in communications, public relations, journalism, or English.

A Brief History of Holmes Stamp & Sign

Owen Holmes, Jr., the founder of Holmes Stamp Company, started making stamps in his garage. What started out as a hobby became a business in 1954. Mr. Holmes retired in 1985, after founding and establishing a very successful business, which, by the time of his retirement, had come to manufacture not only stamps, but also notary seals and engraved signs. After his retirement, Mr. Holmes' son, known as Skeets, who had worked for his father since 1975, ran Holmes Stamp Company. Bob Croft, a partial owner since 1985 who had started at Holmes Stamp Company as a delivery driver at age 19, took over upon Skeets' retirement in 1998.

Holmes Stamp Company continues its commitment to an unbeatable work ethic and focus on exceptional customer service that Mr. Holmes implemented when he started the business. Today, these values live on as Bob Croft and his son Bryan operate Holmes Stamp Company with the help of competent and knowledgeable employees, some of whom have been working for Holmes Stamp Company for over twenty years.

In 1984, Holmes Stamp Company moved to its location at 1670 San Marco Boulevard in Jacksonville, Florida. Holmes Stamp Company looks forward to celebrating its 56th anniversary this year.

The next 50 years of Holmes Stamp Company will see improved computer technology and constantly evolving materials and processes which will enable Holmes Stamp Company to provide superior products at competitive prices, without ever losing sight of the values and principals on which Mr. Holmes based Holmes Stamp Company when starting out in 1954.
