College Internship Program
APPLICATION DEADLINES: April 3, 2012
SUMMER SEMESTER: May-August 2012
The internship program at MOCA Jacksonville offers undergraduate and graduate students a unique and exciting opportunity to gain real experience in a contemporary art museum. Interns are exposed to art and art history, art education, the museum profession, and public programming. The Education Department is seeking an intern to participate in community outreach and key educational initiatives such as MOCA’s Voice of the People, a literacy program with 4th graders and Summer Art Camp. Other applications may include research and program development. Hours are flexible and limited to a 20 hour per week maximum. Interns are expected to work at the Museum a minimum of 120 hours to receive 3 course credit hours. Internship positions are competitive, and are unpaid unless otherwise noted.
Time commitment:
Minimum 15 hours per week.
Stipend:
No financial stipend. To be considered as an intern for MOCA and not a volunteer, College and University credit must be a requirement of your internship.

Selection Process:
Candidates will be selected based upon their skills and qualifications along with an interview with the Department Manager. Candidates will be notified as soon as a decision is made.
Interested students should send in writing to the Intern Supervisor:
• A resume including a list of comparable courses taken
• Full contact information including phone, e-mail, and permanent address
• A cover letter expressing their areas of interest and career goals
• Submissions may be mailed, faxed, or e-mailed.
• Students from the University of North Florida are required to obtain a recommendation from the chair of their department. This recommendation may be mailed, faxed, or emailed to the Intern Supervisor under separate cover, or can be made by telephone.
Materials should be received no later than April 3 for Summer work, July 31 for Fall semester work, and November 27 for Spring semester work. Students may be called for an interview.
