Title: Student Help – Storeroom (17 hours weekly)




Position Summary:

Responsible for servicing primarily Culinary Lab classes and students in all lab classes via organizational activities during working hours in The Art Institute of Jacksonville Storeroom.



Key Job Elements:

1. Re-stocking supplies includes food, supplies, and chemicals.

2. Loading, cleaning, and maintaining pars for various food carts for culinary lab classes.

3. Maintaining a FIFO rotation for all perishables.

4. Assisting with maintenance of logs, particularly HACCP.

5. Mop room daily check and maintenance using checklist to check pars.

6. Emptying garbage and boxes to outside receptacles.

7. Keeps all refrigerators, freezers, fish drawers rotated and iced as specified.

8. Responsible for labeling all foods as required by law and storeroom policies.

9. Assists with receiving orders, immediate and proper rotation for products.

10. Storeroom cleaning and daily organizational duties.

11. Keeps records for waste, use charts, and lists for needed items.

12. Acts as a role model for culinary students by following professional guidelines as stated.

13. Pro-actively supports student learning by following department protocols and procedures.

14. Assist with inventory management and use of new Ai requisition system.

15. Other duties as assigned.



Organization Relationships:

Reports to: Chef Director and Storeroom Manager

Interacts with: Students, staff and faculty.



Position Requirements:

1. Must be current Art Institute of Jacksonville student in good standing.

2. Must possess excellent customer service skills.

3. Must be detail-oriented.

4. Needs to be able to lift and carry 50 lb. bags and equivalent for storage.

5. Needs to be able to withstand extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.

6. Job duties require standing for long periods, walking, pushing, climbing, stooping, frequent lifting of items regularly of 20-30#, and 50# from time to time.

7. Ability to read, interpret and communicate procedures to new students involved in the learning process.

8. Able to interpret culinary numbers and figures via written lists correctly to achieve correct par levels.

9. Computer literacy – familiarity with Excel, Word, and Outlook; data entry experience a plus



Accountability:

Direct: Chef Director, Storeroom Manager, Chef Instructors, Other Storeroom Student workers, Students in lab classes needed help with understanding procedures. Be courteous to admissions representatives and other faculty touring premises. Occasionally other department heads and the President or Dean.

Indirect: Student persistence and school image.
